Cluster Programs
Leadership Cluster is an annual colloquium providing participants the benefit of small group interaction while meeting on-site to examine a particular institution, visit with significant leaders in the field, and explore relationships with vital support organizations and community resources.
Residential Schools Cluster addresses issues and practices specific to residential schools and summer programs. Its participants are primarily provider-level personnel – such as student life directors, counselors, residential assistants, school nurses, deans of students – as well as those interested in developing residential programs.
Teaching IN & THROUGH the Arts Cluster presents a symposium for a wide range of arts educators – those responsible for traditional arts education, those implementing arts integration programs, and those pursuing pre-professional arts training – teachers, teaching artists, artist-teachers, arts organizations.
Canadian Cluster is hosted by a NETWORK school located in Canada as a leadership colloquium available to all NETWORK members. Furthermore, as a service to arts education at large, any Canadian K-12 and post-secondary arts school is welcome to participate, and to discover the benefits of NETWORK membership.

Nassau BOCES Long Island High School for the Arts (LIHSA, formerly named the Cultural Arts Center) offers intensive training to Nassau and Suffolk County teenagers looking for guidance and preparation for careers in the arts. Celebrating it’s 35th anniversary this year and led by founding Principal Ava Favara, LIHSA takes advantage of proximity to New York City and its array of cultural resources, and a team of dedicated faculty members, most of whom remain professionally active in their areas of expertise. This will be the school’s third time to host Cluster since the annual spring gatherings began in 1988. Previous visits are memorable for how successfully the essential qualities of Leadership Cluster emerged – the benefits of small group interaction and an intensive meeting structure that provides for nearly continuous dialog among participants, encouraging extensive inquiry and comparison during ongoing exploration and exchange. Locations will include sessions in Manhattan and elsewhere in Long Island in addition to the meetings at the school (Syosset).
K. R.: “Join us at 5,000 feet above Palm Springs and take the residential schools discussion to new heights as we focus on admission, residential life curriculum, and the balance of arts/academics/personal development (also how to run a program with no money).” Residential Cluster addresses issues and practices specific to residential schools and summer programs. Its participants are primarily provider-level personnel - such as student life directors, counselors, residential assistants, school nurses, deans of students - as well as those interested in developing residential programs ________________
Teaching IN & THROUGH the Arts Cluster presents a symposium for a wide range of arts educators - those responsible for traditional arts education, those implementing arts integration programs, and those pursuing pre-professional arts training - teachers, teaching artists, artist-teachers, arts organizations.
